Leather Care Guide
Besides the noble quality and natural texture, the unique color and pattern that develop over time are likely key reasons you choose genuine leather products from Atelier Alain. Inferior PU products will only peel and deteriorate over time. At Atelier Alain, we are particularly concerned about the sustainability of our products. By providing you with high-quality, durable leather goods, we can effectively reduce carbon emissions compared to constantly replacing inferior PU products.
Leather is a durable material that can last for many years if properly cared for. Our belts come with a 2-year warranty and typically last 8-10 years. Leather is an everlasting fashion accessory, but it requires regular maintenance to stay fresh. Here are some tips for cleaning and maintaining leather goods.
Daily Care
- Keep Away from Water:
- Store leather in a dry, well-ventilated place to avoid damp environments, which can cause mold and damage.
- If your leather item gets wet, gently wipe it with a clean, dry cloth and let it air dry naturally. Avoid direct sunlight or using high-temperature devices like hair dryers.
- Prevent Chemical Contact:
- Keep leather away from oils, cosmetics, perfumes, solvents, and other chemicals that may cause discoloration or damage.
- Regular Cleaning:
- Use a clean, soft cloth to gently wipe off dust and dirt from the leather surface.
- Every few months, you can use skincare cream for cleaning. While there are expensive leather care oils available on the market, our experts’ years of experience suggest that ordinary skincare cream is sufficient. However, be sure to use fragrance-free cream, as fragrances can alter the color of the leather.
- Avoid washing leather with water or wet cloths.
Common Issues and Solutions
- Leather Cracking:
- If you notice cracks on the leather surface, apply leather care oil or lotion and gently massage the cracked areas to restore softness.
- Leather Mold:
- If mold spots appear on the leather, gently wipe them with a dry cloth or soft brush, then use a small amount of water to wipe and let it air dry naturally. After treatment, you can apply cream for comprehensive leather care.
